CISCO TECHNOLOGY AND OUR NETWORK ADMINISTRATION COURSES


West Virginia Junior College has incorporated CISCO Technology training into its courses and they are designed to prepare students to create and manage network infrastructures. CISCO is the recognized worldwide leader relative to routers, switches, and other information technology infrastructure.

WVJC strives to deliver a comprehensive CISCO learning experience to facilitate student development of IT skills for entry-level network security/administration career opportunities and globally recognized career certifications.

  • Security+ Certified+++^
    • Students are trained and qualified to sit for the Security+ certification which advances the students’ skillset toward computer security issues and tasks. Training for this certification focuses on security matters such as core security concerns, managing secure access, firewalls, intrusion prevention, and endpoint security.
    • Additional training provides baseline skills you need to perform core security functions.
  • Cisco CertifiedTechnician (CCT)+
    • WVJC students will be trained to sit for the CCT certification which is the first level exam encompassing CISCO skillsets. Training for this certification focuses on programming CISCO routers utilizing the Command Line Interface (CLI) to manage subnets thereby streamlining and making digital communications more efficient.
    • Additional training includes managing Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers which automatically leases IP addresses and other information for individual workstations.
